There's no 'perfect' place to be a parent today. But the level of difficulty varies by country.

To find out what it’s like to be a parent today, we spoke to 8,000 parents living in 16 countries. We identified eight key factors that impact parenting  universally and ranked countries based on their parenting experiences.

The factors that affect parenting are universal, but they’re experienced differently in every country. There is no single solution when it comes to making parents’ lives easier.

Eight main factors impacting parenting today
Absence of Pressure

The internal and external pressures parents face when raising their children.  Lower pressure makes parenting easier.

Financial Resilience

The level of stability on family finances.  Higher resilience means less of an impact.

Supports for Working Life

Policy and local employment protections plus access to childcare which impacts parents’ ability to stay home or go to work as they wish.

Easy Baby

As old as parenting itself: the perception of an easy baby makes parenting easier.

Health & Wellbeing Resources

Access to adequate healthcare and trusted parenting information.

Supportive Environment

An environment that allows parents to do the things that they want without barriers. Parent positive & baby friendly.

Shared Parenting

Involvement from partners and shared responsibilites.

Parenting Confidence

How parents feel about themselves; their sense of confidence, satisfaction and resilience.
